artist statement (new work):
barclay's most recent body of work differs greatly from the former more restrictive series, 'Study of the Color Red', to which she had devoted several years. she has left the grid-like format behind. the new work is rooted in texture and color like her paintings in the past, but deals with a more realistic subject matter. barclay is using more found objects for inspiration as well as in the actual pieces.
